Herman Cain Admits Knowing Latest Accuser, Denies Consensual Affair

Unlike accuser #4, Herman Cain admits to knowing his latest accuser, Ginger White, who went on TV today to detail their 13 year consensual affair.

She says during the next 13 years, he would fly her to cities where he was speaking and he lavished her with gifts. She says they often stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead and dined at The Four Seasons restaurant. She says he never harassed her, never treated her poorly, and was the same man you see on the campaign trail.

Cain admits knowing Ms. White for 13 years but denies having an affair with her. He says he's just been trying to help her financially. [More...]

Herman Cain: Lin Wood v. Gloria Allred

Herman Cain is now represented by prominent Atlanta libel/defamation attorney Linn Wood, who previously represented the parents of JonBenet Ramsey, Richard Jewell, Gary Condit and the accuser in the Kobe Bryant Case. (He did not represent Kobe, as reported by the National Journal and ABA Journal, which should know better.) The National Journal reports he represented "Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, whom Wood served as co-counsel in a federal civil-action rape case." Here's the Complaint in the accuser's federal suit, signed on page 8 by Lin Wood.[More...]

Herman Cain Strategy: Attack Accuser

Herman Cain will hold a press conference at 4 pm ET to address the allegations of sexual harassment made by "woman number four", Sharon Bialek. Cain is likely to be all fire and brimstone today. Expect a lot of righteous indignation.

His campaign has sent out an e-mail to reporters that shows his strategy. You can read it here. Classic blame the victim, who he says has a history of financial problems and got fired from a lot of jobs. One section is called "Who is Sharon Bialek?"

I'm not a political consultant but I think Cain's reaction last night on Jimmy Kimmel and today are missteps. He shouldn't have referred to Ms. Bialek as "woman number four." Every time he does that, he reminds people she's not the only one accusing him. [More...]

Herman Cain: Another 180 Turn on Abortion

Here we go again with Herman Cain and his ever-evolving abortion stance. First, in February, 2011, he says as President, he'd sign legislation protecting the right of the unborn.

I am a firm believer in the dignity of life and support a ban on partial birth abortion. If I were president, I would sign legislation that would protect the sanctity of life.

And on October 7, he says at the Values Voters Summit (video here):

So I happen to believe that the Founding Fathers put it in that order— life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness—for a reason. You can pursue happiness all you want to, as long as you don’t tread on somebody else’s liberty....You can pursue liberty all you want to, as long as you don’t tread on somebody else’s life. And that includes the life of the unborn.”

Herman Cain: Would Sign Federal Law Protecting Sanctity of Life

Herman Cain on Feb. 23, 2011 said he would sign federal legislation that protects the sanctity of life

I am a firm believer in the dignity of life and support a ban on partial birth abortion. If I were president, I would sign legislation that would protect the sanctity of life. Additionally, I would be in favor of any legislation that would encourage adoptions as a loving and safe alternative to abortion.

Herman Cain at the Value Voters Summit:

  • "I believe in life from conception, no exceptions."
  • "I would have asked the Department of Justice to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act"

Cain: Would Empty Gitmo To Save One American Soldier

Why is "Gitmo" trending on Twitter right now? Because Herman Cain said on Wolf Blitzer today: If Al Qaeda demanded it, he'd consider releasing every detainee at Guantanamo in exchange for the release of one American soldier.

BLITZER: Could you imagine if you were president…and there were one American soldier who had been held for years and the demand was al Qaeda or some other terrorist group, “You got to free everyone at Guantanamo Bay” – several hundred prisoners at Guantanamo. Could you see yourself as president authorizing that kind of transfer?

CAIN: I could see myself authorizing that kind of transfer but what I would do is I would make sure that I got all of the information. I got all of the input, considered all of the options. And then, the president has to be the president and make a judgment call. I can make that call if I had to. (my emphasis.)

Here's the video.
